ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

Our program is structured to provide the widest range of opportunities
for youth to play baseball. Players are able to play on teams by either
age or grade and at various levels of skill on fields of appropriate
size. At all age levels from 6 thru 14, teams are formed on the basis of
a single age group. From 15 and up, it is sometimes necessary to combine
15 and 16, then 17 and 18 onto the same teams. All players are covered
by secondary accident/injury coverage and all players, adults, teams and
league officials are protected by liability insurance. Each team manager
will screened by a security and background check annually.

AGES 6, 7 Teams are formed by managers or league officials mostly along
geographic, neighborhood or school areas. Sometimes teams represent
church members, soccer teams or are a group of families and friends. 14
games are played from about the second week of May until shortly before
or after the 4th of July. All games are played in Olathe on week-nights
at 6pm or on Saturdays normally from around 1pm - 6pm. Style of play is
Coach Pitch where an adult pitches to members of his team. All players
on the team make up the batting order and all players play both infield
and outfield positions during a game. Games are usually played to a 1
and 1/2 hour time limit. The League will provide all the playing
equipment to the manager. Team shirts and caps are also provided unless
the manager or a team sponsor chooses another option.

AGE 8 Everything is pretty much the same as above for ages 6 and 7
except the style of play changes to a combination of Player/Coach pitch.
A player pitcher is given an opportunity to throw to each batter. If a
normal plate appearance is not completed, then the adult completes
pitching to the hitter in order for the game to move along.

AGES 9 and 10 These ages step up to a slightly larger field and the
style of play is entirely player pitch. Complete team batting order is
still in effect, but positions on the field are determined by the
coaches. All players must play offense and defense as per rules. Game
schedule includes 16 regular season games and a team optional post
season tournament. The regular season begins about May 1 and normally
finishes around the 4th of July. The post season tournament is to begin
on the first Friday following the 4th of July and teams are seeded by
their regular season records into 2 or 3 flights of play. The major
difference between age 9 and 10 year old teams, is that 10 year olds
have two levels of play (Recreational and Competitive). This is
determined by either the Manager's preference, or the Leagues decision
based on previous years' record and experience and by the parents
selecting the level for their child.

AGES 11 and 12 Again the size of the field is increased and more
advanced rules of play are incorporated into the game. A 16 game regular
season and post season tournament are offered as above for 9's and 10's.

AGES 13 and 14 Field sizes are again increased and everything else
pertaing to game rules and league format are pretty much the same as for
the 11's and 12's. Sometimes due to the number of either players or
teams, it may be necessary to combine these two ages.

AGES 15 thru 18 Games at these ages are played on high school regulation
sized fields. For the most part the real rules of baseball, with a few
exceptions, govern the conduct of play.

TOURNAMENT TEAMS
Tounament Divisions are provided for ages 10 and above, based on demand
both locally and in the Gold Glove League. Teams interested in the level
should contact the office for further information.
